I have an affinity for our American wild horses and burros. As both an enthusiast and an advocate for these animals, I wish to share with others my personal accounts of viewing them on the range because there is so much that can be learned by observing their behaviors and connection to the environment. As such, I wish to inspire those who read my blog to visit a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Herd Management Area (HMA) or Herd Area (HA), a United States Forest Service (USFS) designated Wild Horse Territory, or an area where unprotected wild horse herds reside, such as in the Virginia Range in Nevada, Tonto National Forest in Arizona, and others. It’s an experience like no other.
